Daisies and Converse

11:44 AM Unknown 0 Comments

Along with my day at the Met I thought I would put together an outfit of the day. I wore a body suit from forever 21, a skirt from Ross and black converse. I got another chance to wear my color blocked purse from Versona. Again this was an amazing day I will never forget I know this will be staple place for me to go. Surrounded by amazing art for hours is one of my definitions of a perfect day.

A Day at the Metropolitan Museum of Art

12:06 PM Unknown 0 Comments

It's amazing that I've never been to the Met considering how often I come to New York. I fixed that situation and I loved every minute of it! My only regret was not seeing the China through the looking glass exhibit, we ran out of time and had to leave.

New on the Bookshelf

6:19 PM Unknown 0 Comments

Two new books have joined my little collection for a short while. One is borrowed from a friend, (at this point we've swapped so many books it's more of a library with two locations) the other from he actual library. I haven't gotten a chance to start either but I am excited to start!

In the quests of reading the greats Thomas Hardy couldn't be ignored. I'm knee deep in Jane Austen books and it's time to expand. I also feel like I'm the only person that hasn't read Eleanor and Park.

In a fit of drunken anger, Michael Henchard sells his wife and baby daughter for an amount of cash that I have to google because I have no clue what a guineas is.....

Another teenage love story!

I have high hopes for both books, E&P is really popular and TMC is written by Thomas Hardy. Whats new on your bookshelf?

The Affordable Contour

8:44 PM Unknown 0 Comments

When it comes to the brand E.L.F. (EyesLipsFace) I pick brushes and tools over makeup. I have never truly found an item that blew me away. Well I finally found a product that changes that for me.. sort of.. The contouring blush and bronze powder in Turks and Caicos has really caught  my attention!  I love the Nars style packaging! It seems pretty sturdy and an upcoming road trip will test it out. The product itself is a 50/50. The blush is a beautiful color, but it is glittery, I am a matte girl. The bronzer on the other hand is amazing! Most drugstore bronzers and contour powders that I've seen match my skin tone. This bronzer is dark enough to play around with contour and I am really excited to try out this trend. There is some shimmer in the bronzer, but it's not visible when on the skin. E.l.f being an affordable brand I wasn't going to loose sleep over if this flopped, I am really impressed. There  a lighter powder version and even a cream duo!

5 Sunburn Staples

1:54 PM Unknown 0 Comments

With summer in full swing we are all storing our winter clothes and school supplies and hitting the outdoors. Hanging out by the pool, hiking, camping, beach trips, and going to theme parks are just a few things that summer allows us to do. With all these outdoor activities sunscreen is a factor that can't be compromised, with all the harsh sun rays and general health issues too much sun can bring. To avoid all this we slap on sunscreen and hope for the best.
Unfortunately, sometimes we miss a spot and *dramatic music plays* we get sun burned! So what do we do? We pull out the staples of sun burn help!

 1. After Sun- After your adventure slap on a cooling after sun lotion or gel to jump start the soothing process. It hydrates, moisturizes, and some I found to be very cooling. Aloe Vera is a major plus because it does wonders for the skin. Now reapplication is key here if you feel the sting coming up load more on. My favorite is the Max Block found in dollar tree!! One dollar for hours of relief, insane!

2. Tea bags- What a 2-for-1 deal! Make yourself a nice cup of tea to unwind and then take the used tea bag (make sure it's warm to the touch) and put it on a patch of sunburn. A black tea is what everyone recommends, I think chamomile works just as well.

3.Cleansing water- Weird one I know but trust me on this applying this on generously on a sunburned face helps up the hydration, skin flakes off less, and it feels AMAZING! Super cheap btw Simple has an amazing cleansing water for 5 dollars and change.

4. Plain old lotions and moisturizers- After washing off the sand and surf (or chlorine) you have to put moisture back into your skin. That where lotion comes in.

5. Hydration- you've basically cooked yourself in the sun. your skin is bound to be rough and dry so with all the tips above working on the outside, you have to hit the dehydrated insides as well. Drink lots of water to help your body's recovery!

Weekly Snapshots #5

8:25 AM Unknown 0 Comments

Another week another snapshot... well snapshots. This week I went downtown and got a shot of this cool alleyway,  my converse were too cool to not be featured, I am FINALLY getting around to reading Eleanor and Park, and most importantly there was a frog on my window the other night after it rained! I got really excited about that because I've never seen a frog in a non school/zoo setting (weird considering I've lived in Florida for so long)
